Coinciding with the convention, Union Ministry of Commerce, Government of India organised "BMCT'05" International Exhibition on Building Materials and Construction Technologies, which was co-sponsored by BAI.

The theme of XXI All India Builders Convention was "Innovating tomorrow's World of Construction". The convention was held at a crucial stage of development in the country. The Development of Infrastructure is outcry, at present, in India.
 

"XXI All India Builders Convention" was inaugurated on Friday, the 18th February 2005 at the convention hall of Ashoka by Chief Guest Shri Ghulam Nabhi Azad, Hon'ble Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development. Shri P. R. Kyndia, Hon'ble Union Minister for Development of North East Region & tribal Affairs , was the guest of Honour.
In a milestone and path breaking initiative, the Organising Committee of the Convention brought out "BAICON Times", a daily newsletter on all the three days of convention.
 
Introducing a new concept in the All India Builders Convention, Delhi Centre decided to honour two stalwarts of the Indian construction Industry with "Life Time Achievement' Awards". The recipients are Dr. Som Datt, Chairman, Som Datt Builders Ltd., and Shri Jaiprakash Gaur, Chairman, Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.
Shri Gulam Nabhi Azad thereafter released the Convention Souvenier. Shri Bikramjit Ahluwalia, Chairman, Organising Committee of the Convention, proposed the vote of thanks. THe Convention Souvenir carried messages from various dignitaries.
 
Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia , Hon'ble Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Government of India, delivered his address. He also released "The Vision Document of BAI ".
 
Valedictory Function of the Convention was chaired by Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi and Shri P.M. Sayeed, Hon'ble Union Minister for Power, presided over the function. Shri R.V. Shahi, Secretary, Union Minister of Power, Government of India also graced the occasion.
